About Mercedes Llamazares-Voegeli

Welcome to the website where we're following the steps of artist Mercedes Llamazares-Voegeli.

"Difficult though it is to follow her steps, impossible to describe her work in a few lines, her paintings are their own testimony. They say it all!"

Born in Palencia, Spain, in 1956 where she completed A levels. From a very early age she discovered her interest in travelling which brought her to spend a year in London and one in Paris. From 1976 to 1981 she went back to London where she completed Journalism. From there she travelled extensively through the Far East, Turkey, North and South America.

From 1981 to 1986 she lived in the Middle East and traveled through Afrika. She studied at the Art School "AVNI".

She once again moved away, this time to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where she lived in IPANEMA and painted with other Brazilian artists in the Escola de Artes Visuaes, Parque Lage and in Facultade da Ciudade, in Ipanema. She stayed until 1990.

From 1990 to 1998 she lived in Zurich, Switzerland, where she painted and exposed. She now lives in Spain, on the Coast, where the first thing she sees on getting up is the sun rising over the sea... A dream come true!

All the travelling the artist has done, can be seen reflected in her paintings. Oils, acrylics but especially water colours. Any medium is good enough to express the artists feelings.
